The invisible participants of the 1990s wars: A view from the perspective of the millennials from the Hungarian national community in Vojvodina

Although a considerable amount of research was conducted on the topic 1990s Yugoslav wars, affect war had Vojvodinian minorities (in this case Hungarian ethnic minority) received scant attention in wider academic community. Millennials, born 1980s might be group most adversely affected by wars. They did not experience anything from ?old Yugoslavia? which idolized many, and serve as welfare state for generations who were middle century. Millennials to face diminishment big country micro level, i.e. their families fathers receiving military conscription anxiety brought macro society being faced with open nationalism, alienation, prospect side-lined. The goal paper is investigate effect wars minority millennials childhood adult life through narratives about traumatic experiences caused war. analysis based semi-structured interviews homogenous marriage or Serbian-Hungarian intermarriage parents. findings show that all respondents, endured fear because either went live abroad, leaving family many years avoid conscription. On respondents encountered nationalism-fueled incidents during schooling street inevitably became embedded into identities.
